Good news

In this election cycle, the biggest topic is the war on terror and, specifically, the war in Iraq. This post from Iraq the Model puts the al Sadr developments into an interesting light. It seems that the "insurrection" is losing steam, because there is no local support. The first rule of guerrilla warfare is to get the populace on your side. Al-Sadr did not get the Iraqi people behind him. As a matter of fact, he as totally alienated them. One cannot be a successful "insurrection" leader without a base of support.

While I am on it, as tragic as every death in Iraq is, we must remember that we lost more in D-Day in the first wave. We need to put casualties in perspective. As in Viet Nam, the doomsayers will eventually sap our resolve, if we let them. Boy, I can't wait for the elections to be over.
