An Interesting Perspective

After reading this, I see that our media is not so bad. If this one man's voice is any indication, we must stay the course in Iraq.

The Buck Never Stops

Truman had a sign on his desk saying, "The Buck Stops Here." He knew that as Commander-in-Chief, he was ultimately responsible. So far, the Abu Graihb scandal has no stoppage. The blame keeps floating around. The commander, Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski, still believes she is not blame. She has said that it was military intelligence (MI) that was in charge of the prisoners. She is trying to get the spot light off of her by saying that her successor, Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller, said the prisoners should be treated like dogs.

Is this how a responsible person takes responsibility? All I have read says she refuses to take any blame for the actions of those under her command. I will grant that she may have not know, but as I have said before, she should have. Her and her underlings' careers should be terminated. In my opinion, they are not fit to command.

Is there no one able to take responsibility for a mistake. If she had said, "I'm sorry." She would still be in hot water, but most of us would have a lot more respect for her. Americans have a huge capacity for forgiveness. Shifting blame is not the way to achieve it.
