What is Up with This?

CBS News | Abuse Of Iraqi Prisoners Probed

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Will the press try to turn it into another My Lai? I doubt it. The military has become much too PC to let this be swept under the rug. If anyone doubts the PC nature of the military, see what is going on in Fallujah. Instead of giving the terrorists (they are not insurgents no matter what the media says) time, we should have given them 24 hours to surrender and then gone in. After that ultimatum passed total carnage must begin. The most successful campaigns are the ones fought with vigor not afraid of "collateral damage." Yes, we would have received casualties. Yes, that is horrible. Yes, my thought and prayers go out to their families. Yes, civilians will get killed and maimed. How else do you stop another Falujah? If we are to leave Iraq better than we found it, we must kill the enemy.

Anyway back to the 60 Minutes II report. "We had no support, no training whatsoever, and I kept asking my chain of command for certain things, rules and regulations, and it just wasn't happening," said Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Chip Frederick. What kind of excuse is that? Someone needed a time out. Mistreating the enemy is the sure way to propagate the enemy. The dozen soldiers singled out will be made an example of, if the charges are true.

The military must tighten it up. The press is looking for an excuse to make a point.
